POSCO said Sunday its outside directors have agreed to join the steelmaker’s donation campaign to give 1 percent of their salaries to charity.
Starting with POSCO executives last month, the “sharing” campaign has expanded to senior managers, executives and senior managers of its affiliates.
The steelmaker decided to make donations matching the amount offered by its employees in its board meeting last month.
Seven of the 12 board directors are from outside. Of the six expert panels run under the board of director, three committees on evaluation and remuneration; insider trading; and audit consist of only outside directors.
POSCO is known as the company that pays the highest for its outside directors. The average annual salary for POSCO’s outside directors last year was 1.27 billion won.
