Despite a severe slump in prices, global makers of liquid crystal display panels are expected to increase their output in the fourth quarter, a market researcher said Monday.
According to DisplaySearch LLC, global LCD panel makers operated their production lines at 75 percent of their full capacity in October, up 7 percentage points from the previous month.
The research firm predicted that LCD panel makers will operate manufacturing lines at around the same level for the next two months at about 74 percent and 72 percent of their full capacity.
DisplaySearch said the increase in production comes from ramped-up efforts by the two panel makers in South Korea, Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Display Co., which outstripped their rivals in Japan and Taiwan in terms of output. (Yonhap News)
The world’s two biggest panel suppliers are operating manufacturing lines at 84 to 85 percent of their full capacity to meet increased demand from TV makers during the holiday seasons, DisplaySearch said. (Yonhap News)
The research firm added that higher demand for LCD TVs comes largely from Samsung Electronics, as well as TV vendors in China, which are expecting a sales spike during the end of the year.
LCD panel makers in Taiwan, on the other hand, are operating their production lines at around 65 percent of their full capacities, while Japanese panel makers are forecast to cut output in the fourth quarter, it said. (Yonhap News)
