O’ngo Food Communications is organizing trips to Gimpo Farmers’ Day Food Festival on Friday and Saturday.
The festival shows off the best of the city’s thriving agricultural industry famous for its rice, livestock, mushrooms, fruit and ginseng.
At the festival you can learn traditional Korean basket weaving, rice cake making, and try a wide range of fresh agricultural products. A liquor and makgeolli tasting tent will offer samples and also show you how to make your own makgeolli.
Perhaps the most surprising part of the festival is the cheese making tent. The area is also famous for milk, and produces some cheeses.
Apart from the food, bands and B-boys will provide entertainment and the organizers will challenge the Guinness world record for the largest Karaetteok ― the rice cake that is cut into disks for soup.
Transportation will be provided from the O’ngo Food Communications at 10 a.m. and arrive back at 4 p.m. The cost of 10,000 won includes travel, lunch and a gift bag containing rice and other agricultural products.
To reserve a place, visit www.ongo.com and go to the news section, where the section on the Gimpo festival has an application form.
