Motorola Inc. unveiled its new super-slim smartphone in South Korea on Wednesday in an effort to establish a presence in the market dominated by the Galaxy S and iPhone.

Motorola, the biggest U.S. mobile handset maker, said it plans to release its RAZRTM in the domestic market next month. It will be sold through SK Telecom Co. and KT Corp., the country’s top two mobile carriers.

The new mobile device is 7.1 millimeters thick and has a 4.3-inch super active-matrix organic light-emitting diode advanced display that gives picture quality on par with rival products made by Samsung Electronics Co. and Apple Inc.

The company said that the use of Kevlar fiber for its back panel gives the RAZRTM durability, while the 1.2 gigahertz dual core processor, 1 gigabyte random access memory and gingerbread 2.3 operating system, allows users to conduct multiple tasks simultaneously.

The latest phone, in addition, features a cinematic-quality, front-facing 720 pixel video camera and rear-facing 1080 pixel high definition camera.

Motorola said the new smartphone has a stylish exterior and is packed with the latest technology that will open new horizons for mobile devices and meet consumer expectations. (Yonhap News)
