Young woman ages mysteriously in Vietnam, experts to help

Hanoi (dpa) - Medical experts in southern Vietnam offered to help a 26-year-old woman whose skin wrinkled virtually overnight, making her look 30 years older, local media reported Wednesday.

Three hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City have offered Nguyen Thi Phuong consultations with experts after the Tuoi Tre newspaper published photographs of her Sunday.

Phuong's skin is wrinkled but she still has the hair and posture of a young woman, the newspaper said. Her condition has baffled local doctors.

The report said Phuong's problem began in 2008 after she ate seafood and her face broke out in a rash. She was prescribed medicine for dermatitis, but after taking it for a week, her face swelled up and hives appeared on her skin.

"When we got married, Phuong was a beautiful girl," Phuong's husband, Nguyen Thanh Tuyen, 34, was quoted as saying.

"It's difficult to talk openly about conjugal matters, but just understand that I still love my wife," he said.

보도에 의하면 Phuong의 증상은 2008년 해물을 먹고 얼굴에 발진이 생긴 때부터 시작되었다. 피부염 약을 일주일 동안 먹고난 후 얼굴이 부어올랐고 염증이 나타나기 시작했다.

남편 Nguyen Thanh Tuyen은 “우리가 결혼했을 때 그녀는 아름다웠다. 부부간의 문제는 말하기 어렵지만 나는 여전히 그녀를 사랑한다”고 말했다.
