A Halloween-themed afternoon is to raise funds to fight cancer in Korea.

Donating 10,000 won ($8) to attend the “Cancer Sucks” charity event will give participants the chance to don a set of vampire teeth and feature in a dance video to generate cash for the Korean Cancer Society.

More than 1 million won worth of gift certificates and donated items from over 15 different local businesses will be auctioned at the fund-raiser in Seoul on Saturday Oct. 22 from 1-4 p.m.

“Costumes are strongly encouraged and anything from animals to zombies and even Santas are welcome. The only request is that costumes be appropriate for an audience of any age,” said event organizer Mitzi Kaufman.

“According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, cancer has been the number one cause of death in Korea since 1983, so participants are encouraged to donate generously.”

Representatives from the KCS will be on hand to give out information about cancer prevention, treatment, and research as well as collect donations.

Information will be available in both Korean and English and people of all ages -- and all dancing abilities -- are encouraged to attend.

The event will begin at White Box Theatre, near Hyochang Park Subway Station Exit 2, with the group then moving together to Itaewon Subway Station three stops away. Chalk arrows will be drawn on the ground to show the way to White Box Theatre from the first subway stop.

All donations are welcome in either won or U.S. dollars. Those who can not attend the event in person, but who still wish to donate, can give directly to the KCS.
