Report: Briton dies in suspected shark attack

LONDON (AP) _ British media are reporting that a British honeymooner has been killed in a suspected shark attack in the Seychelles.

The Daily Telegraph says the 30-year-old victim was attacked as he swam off Anse Lazio beach, on the island of Paslin.

Britain's Foreign Office late Monday confirmed the death of a British national in the Seychelles and said it is providing consular assistance to the next of kin.

The East African nation is mainly reliant on tourism and fishing. Prince William and his bride spent their 10-day honeymoon there.

신혼여행을 즐기던 영국남성이 부인이 보는 앞에서 상어의 습격을 받아 그 자리에서 숨졌다고 AP등 외신들이 보도했다.

현지시간으로 지난 15일 오후 4시 30분경, 인도양 서부에 위치한 세이셸 섬에서 스노쿨링을 즐기고 있던 이안 레드몬드 (30) 이라는 남성이 상어의 습격을 받아 사망했다고 데일리 텔레그라프를 인용해 AP가 전했다.

부인인 젬마 휴턴 (27)은 같은 시각 물 밖에서 일광욕을 즐기고 있었으며 남편이 물속에서 상어에게 물린 채 “도와달라”고 소리치는것을 들었으나 망연자실 바라볼수밖에 없었다고.

이 부부는 지난 6일 결혼했으며 세이셸에서 이주간의 신혼여행을 즐기고 있었다.

세계에서 가장 아름다운 섬중의 하나로 불려지는 세이셸 섬은 윌리암 왕세자부부의 신혼여행지로 알려졌다.
