“Artist of the Year”: National Museum of Contemporary Art in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, is showcasing representative works by the 23 winners of its “Artists of the Year” program which started in 1995 to reward South Korean artists who are active in their field. “Kwon In-su solo exhibition”: Kwon In-su, a South Korean artist known for his poppy flower paintings, is showcasing his latest works at INSA art center in Gwanhun-dong, central Seoul. Kwon has held over 100 solo exhibitions and his works are found on the cover of many books, packages and campaigns. About 35 paintings done on a white “hanji,” or Korean traditional mulberry paper, are on display this time. The exhibition runs from Aug. 17 to 23. “French Art Today: Marcel Duchamp Prize”: Latest trends in the French contemporary art world can be spotted at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province. “The American Art: Masterpieces of Everyday Life from the Whitney Museum of American Art”: To present an overall view of U.S. contemporary art of the early 20th century, the National Museum of Contemporary Art is exhibiting 87 artworks from the Whitney Museum of American Art’s major collections. It will feature diverse media, from paintings, photos to installations by 47 U.S. artists including Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Man Ray, Jeff Koons, Jasper Jones, Edward Hopper and Richard Estes.
