Nine out of 10 Koreans think the prices of everyday necessities have risen compared to three months ago, a survey said.

Nielsen Company Korea, a research firm, said the results came from its survey conducted between Feb. 25 and March 4 this year, targeting 1,000 Internet users in major cities including Seoul, Gwangju and Busan.

Local consumers thought meat prices had risen the most, followed by agricultural and fishery products, and real estate.

When asked about household economy, 48.5 percent of the respondents said their household economy is worse than three months ago and this negative sentiment is more palpable among low-income brackets.

Regarding household savings and debts, 40 percent said their savings went down and about one third of those questioned said their debt had increased from three months ago.

“The market basket price that Korean consumers feel is very serious is a result of local foot-and-mouth disease, high oil prices and unusual weather. Household savings also declined while debts went up. The earthquake in Japan is expected to have an impact on prices and household economy in Korea.” said Choi Won-seok, director of socio-public research at Nielsen. (Herald Online)

국민 10명 중 9명, ’3개월 전보다 생필품 가격 올랐다’

우리나라 국민 10명 중 9명은 지난 3개월 전보다 생활필수품 가격이 올랐다고 생각하고, 2명 중 1명은 가계 경제 여건이 나빠졌다고 느끼는 것으로 나타났다.

닐슨컴퍼니 코리아(Nielsen Company Korea)가 지난 2월 25일부터 3월 4일까지 서울 및 4대 광역시(대전, 대구, 광주, 부산)에 거주하는 성인남녀 1,000명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시한 결과, 전체 응답자의 93.1%가 “지난 3개월 전과 비교했을 때 생활필수품 가격이 올랐다”고 응답했다.

품목별로는 축산물의 가격상승 체감도가 96.1%로 가장 높았다. 다음으로 농산물(91.0%), 수산물(89.2%), 가공식품(81.8%), 부동산(81.3%), 생활용품(77.6%) 순이었다.

3개월 전과 비교해 가계 경제에 관해 물은 결과, 약 2명 중 1명(48.5%)이 ‘나빠졌다’고 응답한 것으로 나타났으며, 이와 같은 응답은 소득 수준이 낮을수록 더욱 높은 것으로 분석되었다.

가계 저축과 부채에 관한 질문에 대해서는 40.0%의 응답자들이 ‘지난 3개월 전보다 가계 저축이 줄었다’고 답했으며, 약 28.8%의 응답자들은 ‘3개월 전보다 가계 부채가 늘었다’고 답했다.

닐슨컴퍼니 코리아 측은 “이번 조사 결과, 국민들이 체감하는 장바구니 물가 수준은 심각한 것으로 나타났으며, 가계 경제 또한 3개월 전보다 저축은 줄고 부채가 늘어나는 등 악화된 상황이다. 여기에 일본 대지진의 여파가 향후 국내 물가와 가계 경제에 상당한 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상된다”고 밝혔다.
