BMW introduces new Mini Countryman in S. Korea

BMW Korea, the South Korean unit of German automaker BMW Group, introduced a new BMW Mini in South Korea on Thursday, also bringing to Korea BMW Mini's first sport activity vehicle (SAV).

The new BMW Mini Countryman series come in three trims that
include the first four-door, all-wheel drive Mini, the Cooper S All4.

All three versions come with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine that produces maximum horsepower of 122 in the low-end Cooper model and 184 in the more dynamic Cooper S and Cooper S All4 models.

   The engine also produces maximum torque of 24.5 kilogram-meters for the Cooper S and Cooper 2 All4 models, allowing maximum speed of 210 km/h and zero-100 acceleration in just about 8 seconds.

   Despite their family name, Mini, the new models also come with more than enough trunk space with folding rear seats creating an additional space of 820 liters that can easily house golf bags and even surfboards, according to BMW Korea.

   The local price of the Mini Cooper has been set at 38.5 millionwon (US$34,258), 44.8 million won ($39,860) for the Cooper S and 51.6 million won ($45,915) for the Cooper S All4.

BMW그룹 코리아 '미니 컨트리맨' 출시

BMW그룹 코리아는 미니(MINI)의 4번째 모델인 미니 컨트리맨(MINI Countryman)을 3일 출시했다.

    미니 첫 스포츠액티비티차량(SAV)인 미니 컨트리맨은 고유의 개성을 유지하면서 도 4m가 넘는 길이, 4도어, 4륜 구동 시스템인 '올4(ALL4)'를 처음 탑재했다.

    국내에는 미니 쿠퍼 컨트리맨, 미니 쿠퍼S 컨트리맨, 미니 쿠퍼S 컨트리맨 올4 등 총 세가지 모델이 출시된다.

    외관은 4m 이상의 길이와 함께 4개의 도어, 대형 테일게이트 등 다양한 기능이 적용됐다.

    넓은 실내 공간 및 높은 지상고와 함께 뒷좌석은 2인용 개별 좌석으로 이동 및 각도 조절이 가능하고, 3인용 시트도 선택이 가능하다.

    트렁크 수납공간도 350ℓ에서 최대 1천170리터ℓ까지 확장할 수 있으며, 골프백과 서핑보드, 스노보드 등도 실을 수 있다.

    특히, 새롭게 개발된 1.6ℓ 4기통 가솔린 엔진이 탑재됐다.
  쿠퍼S 컨트리맨은 최고출력 184마력, 최대토크 24.5kg.m의 강력한 성능을 발휘하며, 0~100km/h 가속시간 7.9초, 안전최고속도는 210km/h이다. 쿠퍼 컨트리맨은 최고출력 122마력, 최대토크 16.3kg.m, 0~100km/h 가속시간은 11.6초이다.

    특히, 미니 컨트리맨에는 미니 브랜드 최초로 4륜구동 시스템인 '올4(ALL4)'가 적용됐고, 쿠퍼S 컨트리맨 올4는 미니 특유의 민첩한 핸들링에 접지력과 추진력을 추가했다.

    판매 가격은 쿠퍼 컨트리맨은 부가세 포함 3천850만원, 쿠퍼S 컨트리맨은 4천480만원, 쿠퍼S 올4는 5천160만원이다.

    김효준 사장은 "미니 컨트리맨은 크기가 커지고 활용폭도 넓어졌지만, 여전히 미니다"며 "미니 패밀리의 네번째 가족인 미니 컨트리맨 출시와 함께 미니만의 차별 화된 문화를 선도해 나갈 것"이라고 말했다.
