Two Canadian sisters were found dead in a hotel room in Thailand, the Bankok Post reported.

The two college students, aged 20 and 26, were reported to have been covered in vomit when they were found by a maid at the Phi Phi Palm Residence Hotel on the resort island of Phi Phi on Friday. They showed signs of skin lesions and were bleeding from their gums.

The Krabi Provincial Police said that a possible cause of death could be "serious food poisoning."

Foul play has been ruled out of the investigation, as no indication of violence was found.

The sisters’ bodies will undergo autopsies to confirm the cause of death.

Lt. Siwa Saneha of Phi Phi Island police said that the girls had not come out of their room since Tuesday, and the hotel staff had initially left them undisturbed. On Friday, concerned by their welfare, the staff had used the master key to enter the room.

The two had been dead for between 12 to 20 hours before they were found, said Saneha.
