Flowers and proposals often go together, but a man from Boston has taken the combination to a new level.

Early this month, Jack Cushley proposed to his girlfriend Teresa Elsey by arranging a flashmob; he had dozens of strangers present Elsey with a single flower as the couple made their way to the Institute of Contemporary Art, the location of their first date.

The couple first met up and strolled along Boston’s waterfront near the museum. There, Elsey was presented with the pink and white blooms. The organized individuals communicated with each other about the couple’s whereabouts to make sure that Elsey got each flower. Initially, Elsey refused a flower, but as she was approached by many others, she started accepting the flowers. She received so many that Jack, standing by her side, offered to help carry some.

As the couple got closer to their destination, dozens of people swarmed around Elsey allowing Jack to escape to change into a tuxedo.

Jack reentered the scene and led Elsey to a bench. With a band playing music in the background, he dropped down on one knee and proposed to Elsey. She agreed. The crowd surrounding the couple applauded as the newly engaged couple embraced.

꽃 한송이씩 ’아름다운 그대에게’ 이색 청혼 화제


매사추세츠 보스턴 시의 한 남성이 여자친구에게 특별한 방법으로 프로포즈해 화제가 되고 있다.

잭이라고 알려진 이 남성은 여자친구를 위해서 특별한 플래시몹을 기획했다. 그들이 보스턴 현대미술관(the Institute of Contemporary Art)로 가는 동안 낯선 행인들이 여자친구에게 꽃을 한 송이씩 선물하도록 한 것. 보스턴 현대미술관은 이 커플이 처음으로 데이트한 추억의 장소로 전해졌다.

이 커플은 특별한 장소로 도착하기 전 강변에서 만나 함께 길을 걸었다. 첫 번째 행인이 여자친구에게 꽃을 건넸다. 여자친구 테레사 엘시는 처음에는 꽃을 거절했지만, 이상하고도 자연스러운 이런 사건들은 커플이 미술관으로 가는 내내 일어났다. 

결국 거절하기에도 많은 사람들이 꽃을 주었기 때문에 옆에서 걷고 있던 남자친구까지 꽃을 나눠 들어야 할 상황까지 오고 말았다. 이 와중에 플래시몹에 참여한 사람들은 ‘목표물’의 동선과 상황을 주시하면서 서로 연락을 주고받고 있었다.

커플이 목적지에 도착하자, 한 떼의 사람들이 그들을 둘러쌌다. 덕분에 잭은 여자친구에게서 떨어져 나와 턱시도로 갈아입을 수 있었다.

잭은 다시 그 감동적인 장소에 도착해 엘시를 벤치에 앉혔다. 그녀에게 장미꽃을 선물했던 많은 사람들이 지켜보는 가운데 밴드 음악이 흐르고, 그는 무릎을 꿇고 그녀에게 청혼했다.

그녀는 프로포즈에 응했고, 관중들의 박수를 받으며 새롭게 결혼을 약속한 두 연인은 서로를 껴안았다.
