Police in New York said car thieves made off with a Maserati while its owner was standing nearby, talking to a friend.

Investigators said the car‘s owner, Chadwick Lange, 43, left the keys in the ignition and the engine running when he got out of the vehicle in Times Square to talk to a friend around 4:40 a.m. Sunday when two men approached him and asked if they could take pictures of the car, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.

However, after taking a couple of pictures, one of the men jumped into the car and sped off, with the other man following on foot. They said the car slowed down after a couple of blocks to allow the second man to get into the car.

Police said they have yet to identify any suspects.(UPI)

억대 스포츠카, 주인앞에서'저놈잡아라'


뉴욕 경찰서가 2인조 자동차 도둑이 주인이 보는 앞에서 스포츠카를 훔쳐 달아났다고 밝혔다. 자동차의 종류는 이탈리아의 고급 스포츠카 마세라티(Maserati)로 알려졌다.

자동차 주인 채드윅 랜지(43)는 지난 일요일 새벽 4시 40분 경 뉴욕 타임 스퀘어에서 친구에게 이야기를 하기 위해 차에서 내렸다. 당시 자동차는 열쇠가 꽂힌 채 시동이 걸려 있던 상태. 곧 두 남성이 그에게 접근해 자동차 사진을 찍어도 괜찮겠느냐고 허락을 구했다.

그러나 그들은 사진을 몇 장 찍는가 싶더니 한 명이 잽싸게 자동차에 올라타 달아났다. 다른 한 명은 달아나는 스포츠카를 발로 뛰어 쫓아갔다. 몇 블록이 지나 도둑 맞은 명품 스포츠카는 동료를 태우기 위해 잠시 속도를 늦추더니 빠른 속도로 달아났다.

경찰은 아직 용의자들의 신원을 파악하지 못 한 상태다.
