GWANGMYEONG -- The city of Gwangmyeong, just south of Seoul, said Monday former French Minister for Government Reform and Simplification Jean-Vincent Place expressed support for South Korea's efforts to build a railway connection with North Korea and Eurasia.
Place and Gwangmyeong Mayor Yang Ki-dae visited Dorasan Station, South Korea's northernmost station, which is in the border town of Paju, north of Seoul.
Place was quoted as saying he highly regards and supports the railway project.
Since last year, Gwangmyeong has strengthened its relations with key gateway cities on the envisioned Eurasian railway, including China's Dandong and Hunchun, Russia's Hassan and Irkutsk, and the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar. (Yonhap)
