A 51-year-old British woman was sent to prison for stalking and threatening BBC commentator and former Olympic star Gillian Clark, according to local news reports.

Hull Crown Court sentenced Susan Maynard to two years in jail after she repeatedly breached a restraining order that prohibited her from contacting Clark, whom she had been stalking for 11 years.

It is unclear why Maynard started stalking the former badminton player. She met her only once in 2001, when Clark employed a gardener and Maynard had accompanied him to Clark’s home in Kent.

Maynard has bombarded Clark with abusive calls and threatened to kill her on a number of occasions, despite receiving a restraining order in 2002 and being jailed for 12 months in 2010.

This year alone, she breached the order three times and left silent messages on Clark’s phone.

Clark said in a statement that the abuse made her feel vulnerable.

“I have never known her and she is not my friend… It (the stalking) has gone on for 11 years. The calls are deeply distressing.” she said.

Maynard pleaded guilty to harassment and breaching a restraining order.

The court gave Maynard an indefinite restraining order and warned she will be more severely punished if she continues to stalk Clark.

그러나 바로 그 다음 날부터 클라크에게는 고통의 나날들이 시작되었다. 메이나드는 수 차례에 걸쳐서 전화로 위협을 하고 무언(無言)의 메시지를 남기는 등 그녀를 괴롭히기 시작했다.

클라크는 피해자 성명에서 자신은 메이나드를 알지도 못하는데 그녀의 행위로 인해 상처를 입었다고 호소했다.

법원은 메이나드에게 무기한 접근 금지 명령을 내리는 한편, 스토킹을 계속할 경우 더 큰 처벌을 내릴 것이라며 경고했다.
