The Korea Wine Connoisseurs Club of Korea is running a trip to the Kenneth Kim Vineyard in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, on Sept. 28.

The tour will begin with a session on pairing wines with Korean cuisine, followed by a barrel tasting at the winery and a “grape stomping” contest, the winner of which will take home a bottle of vintage wines. This will be followed by a folk dance presentation and, if time permits, a visit to the Muscat grape vineyards.

The vineyard was set up in 2001 by Kim, after the local government asked him to help revive the wine culture that was brought there by French priest Antonio Gombert in the early 20th century.

Kim has begun building a replica of Gombert’s birthplace at the vineyard, which those on the tour will see.

The tour leaves 10:30 a.m. from Seoul City Hall and returns at 7 p.m. Tickets are 100,000 won, or 85,000 won if purchased by Saturday.
