E-Mart rolled up its sleeves to provide its support for the successful hosting of the IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011.
In a ceremony held with the organizing committee for the IAAF World Championships, on March 25, E-Mart purchased 2,500 A-class tickets (700 million won) in a bid to help its successful hosting and boost public interest in athletics.
E-Mart will carry out active promotions at its eight Daegu branches to boost citizen participation, while planning diverse campaigns aimed at encouraging its employees and their family members to visit the stadiums during the event.
E-Mart plans to distribute the purchased tickets to its customers via varied promotional events at its Daegu branches. Such a move is expected to not just help promote the sporting event but also encourage more people to visit the stadiums.
E-Mart is also seeking to give some of the purchased tickets to the underprivileged in Daegu; a move that it expects would contribute to regional harmony through the international sporting event.
“The IAAF World Championships is the largest event to be held in Daegu sine the World Cup in 2002 and the Universidad in 2003,” an E-Mart official said.
“E-Mart has been at the forefront in helping poor families, home-alone senior citizens and environmentally-friendly activities in this region through the ‘hope-sharing’ volunteer program, and it will continue its active participation (in regional activities) and do its best to ensure the successful hosting of the event.
