Seoul Lantern Festival


The annual Seoul Lantern Festival is being held from Friday to Nov.19. Since its inception in 2009, it has hosted annually nearly 3 million visitors, who can expect to see lanterns along 1.2 kilometers of the Cheonggye Stream stretching from Cheonggye Plaza to Supyogyo Bridge.

The lighting hours are from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., and the event is free of charge.

Seoul Kimchi Festival



Seoul Kimchi Festival connects traditions and modern living through the Kimjang, or kimchi-making, culture. The festival displays Kimjang culture and provides a chance for visitors to directly experience it.

Programs include sharing Kimjang for people in need, Seoul Kimjanggan, Kimchi Market, Kimchi Sangsang playground and others related to kimchi-making.

The event is Friday to Sunday from 11 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free to visitors of all ages, but there are participation fees for some programs.

Herb Island Lighting & Illumination Festival


Herb Island -- located in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province -- is hosting the annual Lighting & Illumination Festival until Dec. 31.

With its 300-meter wish tunnel, lavender field lit up in various colors and more, Herb Island aims to get visitors in the holiday spirit.

Inspired by European Christmas markets, the festival offers various events, including Christmas-themed soap, tree and candle making, a Christmas cookie market, turkey barbecue and more.

Bucheon Aiins World festival



Miniature theme park Aiins World is hosting the World Nightview Fantasy Lighting Festival.

The festival runs from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. from November to February, and is closed on rainy days. The last admission is at 10 p.m.

The admission fee is 16,000 won for adults and 13,000 won for children. It is open to visitors of all ages.

Located in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, the theme park is accessible via Samsan Gymnasium Station (Subway Line No. 7) or buses No. 53, No. 59-1 or No. 558.





Grand Chrysanthemum Festival



Grand Chrysanthemum Festival, started in the fall of 2004, features exhibitions of various chrysanthemum art pieces.

Programs include large-sized chrysanthemum replica works (a King Sejong statue, Gwanghwamun Gate, Magical Castle and nine-story pagoda), art piece exhibitions and photo zones.

Admission is 7,000 won for adults, 5,000 won for teenagers and 3,000 won for children and seniors. Infants aged 3 and younger and people with level 1-3 disabilities are exempt of fees.
