Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Samsung Electronics on Friday, Vice Chairman  Lee Jae-yong vowed for another constructive 50 years in business to reach a full centennial milestone.

“The past 50 years has been possible thanks to all your dedication. Let us now freely dream and imagine new possibilities over the next 50 years,” Lee said in recorded video remarks to some 400 employees gathered for an anniversary ceremony at Samsung Digital City in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.

Samsung Group’s de facto chief emphasized that the advancement of technology must coincide with the enrichment of individual lives.

“The road to becoming the best in the world is by sharing and growing together,” Lee said.

Samsung Electronics CEO Kim Ki-nam urged the employees to fulfil three tasks: continuous learning and bold innovations; adapting to the ever-changing needs of consumers; and social responsibility.

Meanwhile, more than 70,000 Samsung employees are volunteering for activities on the occasion of the 50th anniversary, including mentoring youths, donating blood and serving food at a senior citizens center. This began Oct. 14 and continues through Nov. 16 at Samsung workplaces across Korea.
