Asia's largest cultural center that is expected to provide a window to pan-Asian culture will open in the southwestern city of Gwangju next week, the organization running the center said Thursday.

The Asia Culture Center was partially opened the public in September, but its entirety will become available next Wednesday.

Located in the basement of the old South Jeolla provincial office, the space will serve as the platform for international cultural exchange, rather than limiting its functions to cater only toward locals, Bang Seon-gyu, the acting head of the center, told reporters in a briefing.

As such, the center is hosting a multilateral meeting running from Wednesday to Thursday, which will gather culture ministers from South Korea and Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to discuss ways to enhance cooperation.

The center also strives to facilitate the creation of cultural content by providing a one-stop solution for artists looking for space to bring their ideas to fruition.

The center will organize educational programs encouraging research into Asian culture through partnerships with the Netherlands' Rijksakademie and other world-renowned cultural institutions, Bang said.

Other things to expect are special lectures inviting esteemed experts such as French marketing consultant Clotaire Rapaille. (Yonhap)
