The inventory of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips has recently bounced back amid a continued slump in the global PC market, spawning concerns on chip price recovery, data showed Thursday.

The DRAM inventory of global suppliers stood at 12.2 weeks in the third quarter of the year, compared with 10.4 weeks in the previous quarter, according to the data by IHS iSuppli.

The increase, the first in four quarters, comes amid feeble demand for PCs that use DRAM chips as a key component.

Despite market hopes on PC industry recovery, sales have largely remained tepid as consumers opted for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers.

Worldwide PC shipments reached 87.8 million units in the third quarter, down 8.6 percent from a year earlier, according to research firm International Data Corp. (Yonhap News)

PC 업계의 매출 회복을 바라는 시장의 움직임에도 불구하고 PC 판매량은 스마트폰이나 태블릿PC을 찾는 소비자들이 늘어남에 따라 저조한 양상을 보였다.

세계 PC 수하량은 3분기 8천7백8십만 대를 기록해 작년 동기에 비해 8.6퍼센트 하락했다고 조사기관 IDC가 밝혔다. (코리아헤럴드)
