Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics reportedly suspended negotiations on multiple patent disputes due to the U.S.-based tech firm’s “unreasonable demands” just ahead of a compromise, local media reported.

E-daily said there might be a possible link between Apple’s sudden move and the Obama administration’s decision to overturn a U.S. sales ban imposed on some Apple products in connection with patent infringement.

According to media, Apple demanded a large amount of compensation money from Samsung in the final stages of negotiations, which started in mid-2012 and continued through December.

“Apple was pushing for the compromise with Samsung but it suddenly broke the agreement unilaterally,” a top official from an IT company was quoted as saying. “As Apple changed its manner, Samsung tried to figure out the reason and background for the decision through various channels but it failed to find out the reason at that time.”

Apple seemed to have sensed the Obama administration would make a favorable decision concerning the ban, the report claimed.

On Sunday, Samsung said it planned to appeal the International Trade Commission’s ruling to ban imports of some of its models if U.S. President Barack Obama did not veto the ruling.
