Samil PricewaterhouseCoopers is seeking to strengthen its global accounting and consulting services as the nation’s largest accountancy marks its 40th anniversary.

Chairman Ahn Kyung-tae will unveil the roadmap to become a specialized global player in an anniversary ceremony on Friday.

The firm stressed that advancing into the global market is not an option but a necessity.

“Samil dispatched skilled staffers to 26 cities in 16 countries and about 10 percent of its thousands of staffers have the experience of working at overseas offices,” company spokesman Jeong Do-sam said.

Its staffers have participated in a Japanese project on the International Financial Reporting Standards since 2009 as well as taking the initiative in offering consulting services for banking restructuring in Mongolia in 2010.

The firm has been the most active agent in the nation’s accounting industry providing accounting and consulting services for Korean companies seeking to list their shares on the U.S. stock market.

Samil has arranged the U.S. listings of Kookmin Bank, Shinhan Financial Group, Hanaro Telecom, LG Philips LCD, and online game providers such as Webzen and Gravity.
