Naver Corp.’s free messenger application Line has broken the 400-million download mark on growing demand overseas, the company said on Wednesday.

The milestone came four months after it had drawn 300 million users as of November 2013. Line was launched in June 2011.

Broken down, ten countries have more than 10 million Line users each, with South Korea, the United States, Mexico and Malaysia joining the club this year. The app is serviced in 17 languages.

Around 1.7 million first-time users download the app every day, with the number of subscribers in North America and western Europe booming, the company said.

Naver said Line users around the globe were exchanging on average 10 billion messages daily this year, along with 1.8 billion mobile “stickers” and 120 million voice calls. The company said the free messenger service aims to reach another milestone of 500 million download hits worldwide by 2015.
