A mother in her 20s who had previously decorated the cover of Time magazine breastfeeding her 3-year-old son has appeared on another magazine’s cover.

Jamie Lynne Grumet, 26, a stay-at-home mom in Los Angeles and her son had been the cover photo of Time magazine for a story on “attachment parenting,” in May and reactions ranged from applause to cringing to shrugs.

On Twitter, at that time, the cover inspired X-rated jokes along with concerns that the child might be teased when he was older. But on many message boards, there was debate about whether it was OK to breastfeed beyond babyhood.

Grumet recently appeared on the cover of another magazine quite different from her appearance on Time magazine. For the magazine Pathways to Family Wellness she appeared with her two children and her husband. She said that she wanted to show her original intention to recommend breastfeeding to others.

This appearance drew a much better reception from the public. The photographer who produced the cover explained that the photo describes the happiness of a family which arises from breastfeeding, whereas the previous photo on Time magazine made an “inappropriate” impression.

한편 그루멧은 최근 종전 타임지에서의 표지 사진과는 사뭇 다른 느낌의 또 다른 잡지 사진에 등장했다. “패스웨이 투 패밀리 웰니스”의 표지에 또 다시 모유수유를 하는 모습을 등한 것이다. 그러나 이번에는 자신의 두 아들과 남편을 동반해 온 가족이 출연에 차이를 두었다. 그녀는 “모유수유를 권장하고자 하는 의도를 제대로 보여주고 싶었다”며 표지사진 촬영의 목적을 설명했다.

이번 표지 사진에 대해 대중들은 종전에 비해 보다 긍정적인 반응을 보이고 있다. 이 잡지의 표지를 담당한 사진작가는 이 사진이 모유수유를 통한 가정의 행복을 묘사하고 있어, 다소 부적절하고 억지스러웠던 타임지의 표지사진과는 차이가 있다고 밝혔다. (코리아헤럴드)
