A secret tryst on a freezing cold night in Britain ended in tragedy when a cheating husband froze to death while sleeping with his lover in a car.

Syed Hussain, 29, died from hypothermia after spending a night in a car on a cold day just before Christmas, Daily Mail reported Wednesday.

Hussain had been secretly in a relationship with a woman surnamed Akhatar for three years. He was married to a woman in Pakistan a year earlier in a marriage arranged by his family, according to the report.

Hussain and Akhatar spent the night in his garage on the cold night when temperatures fell to minus 10 degrees Celsius. When she woke around 3 a.m. and found Hussain collapsed on the garage floor with no pulse. He was declared dead at around 5 a.m.

The heater in the car in which Hussain an Akhatar spent the night was not running. “We didn’t go to the garage to have sex and we had never had sex in his car,” she said. “We had been in the car with the heater on. We were both in a good mood and got on really well and we were flirting with each other,” she recalled the time. “I fell asleep at about midnight.”

The coroner said that Hussain died from “a natural event from excessive cold” and said “the circumstances would probably merit a verdict of misadventure.”
