LG Electronics said the G3 will be available in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore and other Asian countries starting Friday and sold in all areas through some 170 mobile carriers around the globe from next month.

"Sales of the G3 smartphone will gradually expand to other countries from July," said Kim Yeon-jun, a communications official from LG. "The G3 is also set to be available in France and Britain by end-June, although the detailed schedule may change due to shipping procedures."

First showcased in major cities around the globe on May 28, the phone has a 5.5-inch screen whose quality is four times that of standard high-definition resolution and features the world's first 2,560X1,440 Quad HD display.

Like its predecessor G2, the G3 has all its buttons on the rear of the device to allow users to quickly access its power and volume controls. The flatter phone with a curvy design also fits more naturally in a hand.

Internally, the G3 is equipped with a quad-core 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage with micro SD card support.

LG said its latest phone is aimed at providing a simpler interface to customers.

"The G3, which is made under the philosophy of 'Simple is the New Smart,' has been receiving positive responses from consumers and the media at home and abroad," said Park Jong-seok, head of LG's mobile division.

"Through the full-fledged global sales of the G3, the company will bolster the reputation of LG smartphone brands," Park added. (Yonhap)
