LG CNS said Tuesday it would develop a system enabling automatic mail and package sorting and processing at a logistics center in Malaysia.

The company won a $6.3 million bid over European companies to build its system ― VivaSorter ― which will run the cross-belt sorters at PosLaju, a courier service unit of postal company Pos Malaysia.

This marks the first time for a South Korean company to develop an indigenous logistics system and help fully automate Malaysia’s courier processing, which was previously done manually.

The company said it would further assist PosLaju in developing the system at 10 other centers in the near future.

“We aim to not only boost exports but also ties with our Korean logistics partners with the VivaSorter system,” LG CNS CEO Kim Dae-hoon said in a statement.

LG CNS developed a system controlling the platform screen doors of Kuala Lumpur’s monorail in 2011, and a solution enabling Pos Malaysia to manage and track its mail in 2013.
