지난 일요일 여자아이가 쓰촨성 지진으로 폐허가 된 마을에서 극적으로 구조되었다.

백일도 채 지나지 못한 아기는 15시간이 훌쩍 넘은 일요일 오후 무너진 가옥 밑에서 구초팀에 의해 발견되었다. 가벼운 찰과상 외에 크게 다친 부분은 없는 것으로 중국 공영방송 CCTV가 전했다.

아이의 어머니는 같은 날 쓰러진 빌딩 아래 죽어있는 채로 발견되었다.

6.6 규모의 강력한 지진이 일어난 아얀시 르샨현에서는 최소 156명이 사망하고 5,500명이 부상을 입었다. 지진 후 13,000여번에 이르는 여진이 발생해 구조된 마을 주민들을 떨게 만들었다.

중국의 리커창 총리는 토요일 오후 재난현장을 방문한 뒤 “우선순위는 목숨을 살리는 것입니다. 한 시라도 낭비하지 않고 구조를 위해 최선을 노력을 다 해야 합니다” 라고 언급했다.

Baby rescued from deadly earthquake in China

A baby girl was pulled alive from the wreckage of a deadly earthquake Sunday in China’s southwestern Sichuan province.

The 3-month-old baby girl was discovered by rescue team under the rubble of a collapsed house after having been stuck there for more than 15 hours. The baby is in sound condition with only a few scratches, Chinese state media CCTV reported.

However, the baby’s mother was found dead under collapsed buildings on the same day.

Lushan County, where the earthquake occurred, was struck by a magnitude-6.6 quake on Saturday, leaving at least 156 people dead and more than 5,500 injured. Some 13,000 aftershocks hit, leaving thousands of rescued villagers in fear.

“The current priority is to save lives. We should grasp the golden period for saving lives and waste not a moment,” said Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Saturday afternoon while visiting the disaster area.
