South Korean online game developer NCSOFT said Tuesday it would beef up its partnership with U.S. chipmaker NVIDIA to complete the development of its upcoming role-playing game “Lineage Eternal.”

In order to deliver vivid and immersive visual effects, NCSOFT said it would deploy the latest computer graphics technology from NVIDIA.

The Korean game developer has been collaborating with the U.S. graphics chipmaker for many years. Most recently, the companies held a test run of Lineage Eternal with NVIDIA’s “GeForce GTX980,” one of the most advanced graphics cards, at the G-Star 2014 in Busan last November.

“NCSOFT has been maintaining a partnership with NVIDIA since the launch of Lineage 2 in 2002,” Keita Iida, a senior director of the chipmaker’s global content management, said in a press release.

“NCSOFT’s upcoming online game will once again stun the world.”

Lineage Eternal is a cloud-based RPG game that allows users to play with the same graphic quality on any device, including PCs, smartphones and tablet PCs.

The Korean game company started developing the cross-platform game in 2009 and showcased it for the first time in 2011.

The firm is gearing up to release the game by 2017 at the earliest, as it had focus group tests last month and plans to conduct beta tests with users early next year.
