South Korean tech giant LG Electronics rolled out a new washing machine, dubbed the Tromm Twin Wash, Wednesday in Seoul, which the company said would become a new trendsetter in the global washer market.

“The Tromm Twin Wash will give a whole new laundry experience and create new values for consumers,” said Cho Seong-jin, chief executive of LG’s home appliance and air solution businesses, during a press meeting at the headquarters.

“LG will maintain the lead in the world’s washer market with innovative technology and industry-leading products.”

The newly released front-load washing machine comes attached with an optional smaller washer on its bottom.

The dual-load washing system, with a capacity of 21 kilograms and 3.5 kilograms, respectively, allows users to wash two loads of laundry simultaneously or choose one depending on the load and purpose.

LG explained that the two washing tubs will allow users to wash their clothes separately to prevent fabric dyes or accidental tears during washing.

The Tromm Twin Wash with two separate washing drums will save space and time for consumers as well, according to LG.

The secondary mini washer is sold as a separate machine and can be tucked into the bottom of the company’s recent frond-load Tromm washing machine lineup.

Mentioning LG’s business strategy in the built-in electronics market, the LG CEO said the company would beef up its premium built-in home appliance lineup in addition to the current high-end LG Studio lineup.

“LG defines the mini washer as an invention since it has a great potential to be utilized for various applications,” said the CEO, adding that the drawer-type washer would be made into a standalone built-in product down the road.

The Tromm Twin Wash, which comes in two colors ― modern stainless and white ― has its door placed on the upper part and tilted slightly backward so users do not need to put a strain on their backs by bending over while loading and unloading.

The direct drive motor technology which removes belts and connects the motor directly to the tub, and the “turbo shot,” which sprays water directly onto the clothes to rinse, are some of the top-notch technologies that will appeal to customers, according to LG.

The new premium washer will be released in global markets including the U.S. and China in the coming months.
