Taiwan-based ASUSTeK Computer Inc.'s Zenfone 2 smartphone battery charges at a faster speed than Samsung Electronics Co.'s flagship Galaxy S6, data showed Wednesday, with Apple Inc.'s iPhone 6 falling behind most global rivals.
The Zenfone 2 smartphone battery was charged 32 percent in 15 minutes, while the Galaxy S6 holds a comparable figure of 27 percent, the research conducted by industry tracker Tom's Guide showed. The battery capacities for the devices stand at 3,000 mAh and 2,550 mAh, respectively.
While it took 1 hour and 22 minutes for the Galaxy S6 to be fully charged, shorter than the 1 hour and 49 minutes for the Zenfone 2, the charging speed was still faster for the Asus product, given the battery capacity.
"Although the S6 delivered more milliamps per minute in getting all the way to 100 percent, the Zenfone 2 offered more total juice per minute at both 15 minutes and 30 minutes, which is when you need it most," Tom's Guide said.
The Zenfone 2 and the Galaxy S6 tied at 53 percent in the 30-minutes span.
For the 15-minutes span, the Google Nexus 6 came in third with 25 percent, trailed by LG Electronics Inc.'s G4 smartphone with 23 percent. Apple's iPhone 6 posted only 20 percent. (Yonhap)
