South Korea's No. 2 handset maker LG Electronics Inc. released another teaser for a new smartphone Thursday to be showcased next week, along with a video on YouTube.
LG Electronics also sent out official invitations for the showcase event slated for Oct. 1, which will be held in South Korea and the United States.
While the company did not provide details about the new smartphone, an LG official said the new device will come with improved video and camera-related features.
The 14-second video shown on YouTube used two phrases, "ready action" and "be you," hinting at the smartphone's improved camera features, including selfies.
LG has been making efforts to improve its cameras amid falling returns from handset sales and rising competition with rivals.
Earlier this month, LG released its first teaser poster that showed a movie clapperboard.
LG's flagship G4 showcased in April has a camera whose performance is equal to that of a digital single-lens reflex camera. Its rear-lens performance is 16 megapixels.
The F1.8 aperture camera hovered above the aperture rate of 1.9 for Samsung's Galaxy S6 and 2.2 for Apple Inc.'s iPhone 6, industry watchers said. A lower number indicates better performance in a dark environment.
According to the teaser, the smartphone will come with two camera lenses on the front.
Industry sources added that the device might come with a 5.7-inch display, and maintain key LG smartphone features, including buttons on the back and detachable batteries. (Yonhap)
