Tech behemoth LG Electronics said Thursday it would run its first TV marketing campaign during the 2016 Super Bowl to be held in Santa Clara, California, in February next year.

The Seoul-based tech giant has joined hands with movie director Ridley Scott’s production company RSA Films to produce the TV commercial to promote the firm’s organic light-emitting diode TV technology.

Some 200 million fans around the world are expected to watch the championship game of the National Football League, an American football competition. Super Bowl commercials attract attention around the world and Ridley Scott’s “1984” commercial, which introduced the Apple Macintosh, is considered legendary.

The TV ad will be directed by Jake Scott, a film director himself and son of Ridley Scott.

“When I first saw OLED TVs, I was mesmerized by its staggering picture quality,” said the junior Scott in a statement.

“With 1984, audiences were introduced to a technological advancement that promised to change everything,” said the director, adding “I see a similar kind of disruption with LG OLED TV.”
