ST. ANDREWS, Scotland (AP) ― Choi Kyung-ju, Erik Compton and Brooks Koepka are among 10 players officially added to the field at the British Open.
The R&A on Wednesday announced the additions to avoid any confusion going into the final weeks of qualifying at European Tour and PGA Tour events. The players are high enough in the world ranking to secure spots July 17-20 at Royal Liverpool.
The other seven added to the field were Kevin Stadler, J.B. Holmes, Charles Howell III, Freddie Jacobson, Chesson Hadley, Anirban Lahiri and Scott Stallings.
There could be as many as two additional spots available to fill the 156-man field. That will be determined by the world ranking published next week. Four leading players from The Greenbrier Classic and three from the French Open can qualify this week.
