Sony Korea on Saturday held a filming class for young students as part of its ongoing social responsibility activities here.

The Korean unit of the Japanese tech giant has carried out diverse science education programs under the name of “Sony Korea Eco Science School.”

This year’s program, the 10th of its kind, taught basic filming skills for young students to create their own video contents using Sony’s broadcast cameras.

A group of 20 students from underprivileged families in Incheon were invited to join the program on Saturday that was held in partnership with ChildFund Korea, a charitable organization.

The program started with a lecture on basic filming skills that was offered by Na Jong-gwang, a director at OBS. Then, students were helped to create their own video contents under the theme of environmental preservation at a park in Songdo using Sony’s NEX-VG30 camcorders.

The video contents were reviewed together with teachers and students. After the event, Sony Korea gave the company’s HDR-CX405 handy cameras to all the participating students for their personal use.

“It’s great to offer young students diverse education opportunities based on Sony’s key businesses,” said Sony Korea managing director Osamu Morimoto. “Sony Korea will continue socially responsible efforts for younger generations.”
