S. Korea's industrial output grows 13.7 pct in Jan.

South Korea's industrial output grew for the 19th straight month in January, a strong indication that the national economy is continuing to expand, a government report showed Thursday.

   According to the report by Statistics Korea, production in the mining and manufacturing industries rose 13.7 percent last month from the same month a year earlier. The output has increased since July 2009.

   Output was fueled mainly by autos and semiconductors, which grew by more than 20 percent on-year, despite a poor showing in audio and video equipment and computers.

   Production also rose 4.6 percent from the previous month on solid export gains for manufactured goods.

   1월 산업생산이 자동차와 반도체 등의 수출 호조로 지난해 같은 달에 비해 13.7% 증가했다.

    경기지표도 선행지수가 13개월 만에 상승세로 돌아섰고 동행지수도 2개월 연속올라 동반 상승세를 보였다.

    3일 통계청이 발표한 1월 산업활동 동향에 따르면 1월 광공업생산은 전년 동월비로 13.7% 증가했으며 전월에 비해서도 4.6% 상승해 3개월 연속 상승세를 보였다.

   제조업 평균 가동률은 84.8%로 전월보다 2.7%포인트 급등하면서 관련 통계를 작성한 1980년 1월 이후 31년 만에 최고치를 기록했다.

    현재의 경기 상황을 보여주는 동행지수 순환변동치는 모든 구성지표가 증가하면서 전월보다 1.1포인트 상승, 2개월 연속 상승세를 이어갔다.
    아울러 향후 경기국면을 예고해주는 선행지수 전년동월비도 전월보다 0.2%포인트 상승해 13개월 만에 상승세로 돌아섰다. (연합뉴스)
