Japan to build world’s fastest train

Central Japan Railway Company announced plans to construct the world’s fastest train, restoring its reputation as a leader in state-of-the-art high speed rail technology. Currently, the fastest train on earth operates in China.

The new train with a speed of up to 498km/h is set to outpace China’s fastest, which manages 354km/h.

Japanese passengers currently enjoy rapid transport with the “Shinkansen,” also known as the bullet train.

The new train will be floated above the track with powerful magnets to enhance speed as well as reduce noise pollution.

The first phase of the project, which will connect Tokyo and Nagoya at a cost of roughly $64 billion, will be completed by 2027.

The 160-mile trip which now takes 95 minutes will be shortened to only 40 minutes.

A connection to Osaka is planned to be finished by the end of 2045.
