Samsung Electronics Co. announced Tuesday that it won 30 prizes, including two top honors, at an international design exhibition.
The Korean electronics giant said it grabbed 30 awards at the 2011 iF Product Design Award. Organized by the International Forum Design in Hanover, Germany, since 1953, the award recognizes products for their overall design, originality and their consideration for environment.
According to the award’s official home page, 1,121 participants from 43 different nations submitted 2,756 products for this year’s award. Organizers said 993 products won awards, and 50 of them received gold awards.
Samsung grabbed two gold awards with a light-emitting diodes (LED) television model and a multi monitor. Other winners included its tablet computer, Galaxy Tab, a camcorder and a washing machine.
The total number of awards this year is Samsung’s second-highest total, behind 33 awards won in 2008.
