Busker Busker, the three-member indie band runners-up of Mnet’s reality talent show “Superstar K3,” announced they will withdraw from the music scene indefinitely.

The group lost the top prize to Ulala Session, the vocal-oriented quartet led by Im Yoon-taek who has stage four stomach cancer, in the finale of the show broadcast live last Friday.

The indie trio had been scheduled to participate in a press interview on Monday along with three other top contestants ― Ulala Session, Twogaewol, and Christina ― but abruptly called it off on Sunday.

The trio announced that their last official engagement as a group was the recording of artist Lee Soo-young’s “I Believe,” on Nov. 12, which they performed during the finale of the show.

Busker Busker, formed only five months before this year’s Superstar K season kicked off, said in a statement that they need more time to think about their future as a team.

“We participated in the show shortly after we had just found ourselves as a team,” they said. “We need time to think about our identity as a team and our future, and thought it wouldn’t be appropriate to meet with the public and the press without having our thoughts organized.”

CJ E&M, the agency for this season’s top 11 contestants, said everything on the pre-arranged schedule for Busker Busker has been cancelled.

“We get a lot of requests and inquiries about Busker Busker’s future activities, but cancelled everything upon request from the band,” the agency said through a statement. “We thought their future was more important than what’s expected from them right now.”
