[Today’s K-pop] Rose’s dance video storms past 10 million views

Rose of Blackpink is taking the world by storm with her solo work.

The dance video for “On the Ground” from her solo debut album, “R,” surpassed 10 million views just two days after release, said label YG Entertainment on Thursday.

The music video went on to amass over 116 million views on YouTube, raising expectations that it could reach the 200 million milestone in record time for a K-pop female solo artist. It was the most watched music video in the world over the past week.

Since the song’s release, Rose has set records around the world.

“On the Ground” topped the iTunes song chart in 51 regions, including the US, and Billboard’s Global 200. It made it to No. 70 on Billboard’s Hot 100, the highest rank ever achieved by a female solo K-pop musician, and to No. 43 on UK’s Official Single Top 100.

Verivery stays strong on Billboard’s world chart

Verivery is demonstrating its global presence with a new album.

Its second album, “Series ‘O’ [Round 1: Hall],” topped Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart for two weeks in a row.

The boy band now has two records in a row that have debuted at No. 1 on the chart. “G.B.T.B (Go Beyond the Barrier),” from the band’s fifth EP, “Face Us,” was its first chart-topper, followed by “Get Away” from the new album. “G.B.T.B” peaked at No. 44 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales ranking last year, while “Get Away” debuted at No. 44 on the weekly chart.

With the second record, the six-piece act, now only in the second year of its music career, ranked No. 1 on the iTunes K-pop chart in seven regions and was named by Forbes as one of the K-pop acts that could break in the US in 2021.

NU’EST intrigues fans with mysterious hint

NU’EST heightened fans’ expectations with an update on its promotion website.

It announced “NU’EST The 2nd Album ‘Romanticize’ Concept Homepage Update!” via social media at midnight.

On the all-black website, which opens with the message that it is coming out with new music, a new object shaped like a sphere has been added, piquing the interest of fans.

The band is releasing its second studio album April 19. It has been almost seven years since its previous LP, “Re:Birth,” and about a year since its eighth EP, “The Nocturne.”

The quintet debuted in 2012 with “Face” and since then the bandmates have pushed their musical limits, increasingly participating in the writing and production. NU’EST celebrated the ninth anniversary of its debut earlier this month with an online fan party and a series of videos.

Enhyphen to come out with new music in April

Enhypen is preparing to come out with new music by the end of April, said agency Belift Lab on Thursday.

It has been about five months since the release of its debut album, “Border: Day One,” the No. 1 bestseller among K-pop bands that debuted last year.

The EP illustrates the seven members’ mixed feelings as they begin a new chapter in their lives, as well as their ambitions. It sold over 300,000 units on the first day, and the band picked up four rookie trophies at the year-end music awards. The mini album landed at the top of Japan’s Oricon chart and was in the top five on iTunes’ top albums chart in 34 regions. Three songs from the EP, including “Given-Taken,” entered the Billboard charts as well.

The rookie band was formed through an audition program and now has a reality show.
