“Mind leaving syndrome” describes the urge to flee, for anywhere, leaving everything behind including job and family.

In research conducted by Saramin, a local online recruitment website, about 87.8 percent respondents experienced the syndrome.

Women showed a higher percentage reaching 94.1 percent, while men recorded 80.2 percent.

They said the major reasons were “chronic fatigue and health,” followed by “tedious daily life,” “excessive work,” “lack of private time,” “unclear future of employer,” and “low wage.”

However, only 29.1 percent were courageous enough to make a move. For those who actually derailed from everyday life, 43.7 percent quit their job. Others enjoyed travelling or skipping work without notice.

Others could not attempt to change their lives because of economic reasons. Some replied they lacked courage or had nowhere to go.

The company surveyed 1,391 workers, with those questioned able to choose more than one answer.
