Hyundai Motor Co. donated mobile clinic vehicles to African nations Monday to step up its corporate social responsibility in partnership with charity organizations.

The nation’s largest carmaker said it donated two mobile clinic vehicles with X-ray and defibrillator equipment to Ethiopia’s Health Ministry. It plans to supply two more each to five other African nations including Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Ghana and Rwanda.

The trucks will be offered in partnership with the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare, health ministries in the African nations and other non-governmental organizations operating in the region.

“We want to praise and encourage efforts being made by medical teams in Africa to help those in need,” Chung Jin-haeng, Hyundai Motor Company president said after donating the vehicles in Ethiopia.

“We hope the vehicles are put to good use,” he said.

Hyundai Motor Africa last year implemented a Corporate Social Responsibility program called Hyundai’s Hop on Wheels where the aim is to raise awareness of childhood cancer and fund children battling the disease. The campaign raised a total of $2 million throughout last year and Hyundai Motor America and its more than 800 dealers there donated an additional $6.8 billion to children’s hospitals and nonprofit organizations in Africa.
