Mercedes-Benz Korea is voluntarily recalling two years of diesel vehicles in Korea because of potentially faulty fuel filters that could lead to leaks, the Transportation Ministry said Thursday.

Subject to the recall are 2,398 diesel cars manufactured between March 8, 2009 and May 31, 2011, according to the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs.

Fuel leaks from the filters may cause a loss of control while driving and hazards for other vehicles by spilling fuel on the road, it said.

The local importer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles recalled 2,424 diesel sedans last month for the same problem. The vehicles subject to the latest recall were recently identified to have the same faulty fuel filters.

The vehicle breakdown is 1,214 units of the GLK220 CDI, 738 units of the E220 CDI and 446 units of the C220 CDI.

Free repair services will be available at any service centers run by Mercedes-Benz Korea from Monday. (Yonhap News)
