In a new video, members of punk band Pussy Riot thank pop star Madonna for her support and burn President Vladimir Putin's portrait for what they call his suppression of feminists, sexual minorities and opposition.

Three band members are serving two-year jail sentences received in August for their ``punk prayer'' at Russia's grandest cathedral, in which they asked the Virgin Mary to deliver Russia from Putin. Their trial caused an international furor, and a string of Western celebrities, including Madonna and Paul McCartney, called on the Kremlin to free the women.

In a video posted Thursday on MTV's website, two unidentified band members wearing their trademark balaclavas and brightly colored miniskirts climb down an abandoned building. Speaking in English, they lambast Putin and pledge to continue their ``musical fight.'' The band announced the video on its Twitter account. (AP)

정교회 사원에서의 반(反) 푸틴 공연으로 화 제가 된 러시아의 펑크 록 그룹 푸시 라이엇(Pussy Riot)이 이번에는 블라디미르 푸틴 대통령의 사진을 불태우는 장면이 등장하는 새 비디오를 공개했다.

푸시 라이엇은 지난 6일(현지시간) 미국 로스앤젤레스 스테이플스 센터에서 열린 2012 MTV 비디오 뮤직 어워드(VMA)에 맞춰 MTV 웹사이트에 새 비디오를 선보였다 .

1분15초 분량의 비디오에서 2명의 그룹 멤버는 자신들의 트레이드 마크인 컬러풀한 미니스커트, 복면 차림으로 등장해 노래는 하지 않고 푸틴을 비난하는 발언을 쏟아낸다.

이들은 푸시 라이엇을 상징하는 대형 깃발로 뒤덮인 건물 외벽을 밧줄을 타고 내려오면서 "우리의 음악적 투쟁은 계속될 것", "자유를 향한 싸움은 생명보다도 소 중한 투쟁"이라고 외친다.

또 자신들을 지지해 준 팝 스타 마돈나에게 감사의 말을 전한 뒤 역시 건물 외벽에 부착된 푸틴의 대형 사진에 불을 지른다.

푸시 라이엇은 이 비디오를 트위터 계정에도 올렸다.

여성 5명으로 구성된 푸시 라이엇은 대통령 선거 유세가 한창이던 지난 2월 크렘린궁 인근의 정교회 사원에서 '성모여, 푸틴을 쫓아내소서'라는 노래와 춤이 섞인 시위성 공연을 펼쳐 파문을 일으켰다.

러시아 당국은 단원 5명 중 3명을 '종교적 증오에 따른 난폭 행위' 혐의로 기소, 징역 2년형을 선고했으며 단원들은 이에 불복해 항소한 상태다.

이번 비디오에는 유죄 선고를 받은 3명 외에 나머지 2명만 등장한다.
