LG Electronics Co.’s latest Cinema 3-D Smart TVs are getting favorable reviews from influential IT media abroad.
CNET Asia, the largest tech media website in Asia and Oceania, selected the LG 55LM960, the premium line of the 55-inch Cinema 3-D Smart TV, as its editor’s choice, calling it a “solid all-rounder featuring a sleek design along with most of the latest bells and whistles such as WiDi and gesture control.”
CNET Asia gets about 1.6 million visitors and 4.6 million page views each month.
“The swanky LG 55LM9600 sets a new yardstick in design and performance for all passive 3-D TVs launching in 2012,” CNET Asia said in its review.
“Performance-aside, this 55-incher also sports an alluring design coupled with advanced features such as smart TV functions, Wireless Display and ‘Dual Play’ for multiplayer gaming.”
The tech review site praised the TV’s picture quality, saying its S-IPS panel is further enhanced by local dimming to output inkier blacks and a 400Hz refresh rate for smoother and sharper pictures.
CNET Asia pointed to the TV’s brilliant 3-D visuals, natural colors with deep blacks, powerful sound, polished smart TV platform, availability of downloadable apps and the Cinema 3D eyewear as its strengths.
In Europe, CNET UK named the 42LM660T with the Cinema screen design as the winner of its Editor’s Choice award earlier this month.
“There’s plenty to like with the 42-inch LG 42LM660T, including its sumptuous design, excellent Smart TV features, top-notch 3-D support and pristine HD images,” CNET UK said.
Digital Trends, a U.S. online publisher of high-tech lifestyle and technology news, also picked the 55LM6700 model as its editor’s choice, giving it a score of nine out of 10.
“While this set may be the lowest model of LG’s top-tier Cinema Screen TV series, we think it offers an absolutely stellar combination of beautiful form-factor, features and performance and, at just under $2,000 online, is a whale of a deal, to boot,” Digital Trends said in its review.
Kwon Ki-il, head of LG Electronics’ overseas marketing for televisions, said that the Cinema 3-D Smart TV’s strong 3-D performance and nearly bezel-free design will help LG solidify its dominance in the global TV market.
