The joint K-pop concert, dubbed Dream Concert, for this year is drawing heated attention, its official sponsor Hyundai Oilbank said Sunday.

The event, one of the nation’s largest concerts featuring a group of Korean pop singers, is scheduled to be held at the Sangam World Cup Stadium in Seoul on May 12.

Hyundai Oilbank revived the Dream Concert in 2010 after Hyundai Heavy Industries took over the petroleum and refinery firm from foreign capital.

“The concert had to suffer suspension for a certain period when Hyundai Oilbank was under control of a foreign majority shareholder though it has a decade-long history,” a company spokesman said.

The star-studded line up for the joint concert includes: Girls’ Generation, Tiara, Kara, Davichi, Sistar, Infinite, Beast, Secret, Four Minutes, 2PM and 2AM, according to the company.

Aside from the cultural event, the oil refiner has actively been engaging in social contributions.

The company launched a foundation made up of 1 percent of employees’ salaries last February.

It became the first large company in Korea to have management and labor agree on sharing 1 percent of wages for charity.

Kim Chang-ki, former managing editor of the Chosun Ilbo, was named chairman of the foundation’s board of directors.

Among its board members are actor Choi Soo-jong, Sookmyung Women’s University professor Bae Jung-geun, Asan Medical Center professor Lee Taek-jong and lawyer Kim Woo-chan at Hanshin.
