Hyundai Card Music has launched an indie music compilation album project, releasing its first collection on Thursday.

Titled “It Tracks,” the compilation album aims to introduce indie music to fans and other listeners. The online music website plans to release four albums a year ― an album every three months.

“‘It Tracks’ offers a chance for indie musicians to meet fans through albums and concerts. Fans can also listen to a variety of indie songs on one album,” said an official of Hyundai Card, which launched the online music platform last May.

The first album features 10 indie bands including 3rd Line Butterfly, Galaxy Express, Goonamguayeoridingstella and Bye Bye Badman.

Galaxy Express is one of the leading indie rock bands in Hongdae in Seoul, and recently embarked on their first North American tour and performed at Canadian Music Week. 3rd Line Butterfly is a post-modern rock band.

The music website holds a weekly showcase at Mug for Rabbit coffee shop in Seogyo-dong near Hongdae, long known as the incubator for indie bands and young artists in the area.

The showcase starts at 7 p.m. on Friday and 6 p.m. on Saturday until 10 p.m.

The music website will also donate proceeds from sales of its water brand “It Water” to the indie music fund that supports indie musicians.

Hyundai Card Music has promoted indie albums and musicians by releasing indie albums online and supporting musicians by operating an indie music store since last May.
