Red cars attract more bird droppings than any other color, news reports said Sunday.

A U.K. study said it analyzed more than 1100 cars over a two-day period and at the end, 18 percent of the pooped-on cars were red. Another 14 percent were blue, followed by black with 11 percent, white with 7 percent and grey or silver with 3 percent.

Green cars only got 1 percent of the bird bombs, news reports said.

The study, however, did not elaborate why birds were more likely to target red cars.

A spokesman for the British Trust for Ornithology suggested that the key to avoiding bird poop was location.

If a car is parked where birds roost, the likelihood of the car getting more droppings will be higher, he said.

외신에 따르면 이틀 동안 1,100대의 차량을 분석한 결과 새똥을 맞은 차의 18퍼센트가 빨간색이었고, 파란 차가 17퍼센트, 검정색 차가 11퍼센트, 흰 색이 7퍼센트, 회색이나 은색이 3퍼센트로 나타났다.

녹색 차의 경우 1퍼센트 밖에 되지 않았다.

그러나 이 조사는 왜 정확히 빨간 색의 차가 새들에게 더 배설물을 잘 맞는지는 설명하지 않았다.

영국 조류학 학회 대변인은 그 원인을 차량의 색깔이 아닌 주차되어있는 위치에서 찾았다.

그는 새들이 자주 앉는 곳 밑에 주차된 차가 당연히 새똥을 맞을 확률이 높아질 것이라고 말했다.
