Aekyung Group announced that it has named Choi Kyu-nam the new CEO of Jeju Air, one of Korea’s budget carriers.
Choi will replace Cho Jae-yearl, who was nominated to be CEO of AK Holdings, which will be established Sept. 1.
If the shareholders endorse the selection of Choi as CEO. he will lead the airliner with Aekyung Group’s Household Product and Aviation Business division’s vice president Ahn Yong-chan in a dual CEO system, company officials said.
Choi, a U.S. qualified chartered financial analyst, graduated from Seoul National University and received a master’s degree in engineering management from Stanford University.
He started an investment career at Citibank as an assistant vice president in the corporate finance group. He also had been a senior adviser at Bokwang Venture Capital, and the president of Korea Game Industry Agency. Recently, he has been a corporate representative of East Gate Capital Management’s Korean branch.
